December 15, 2005 - VRSystems Workshop

VRSystems held a workshop for elections personnel from Central Florida counties at the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections office in Clearwater on Thursday, December 15. The workshop was designed to inform and train the elections office staff on VRSystems' new software release accommodating the Florida Voter Registration System (FVRS). Nine Pasco County staff members attended the training.

 


December 10, 2005 - Christmas in the Park

The Pasco County Supervisor of Elections office participated in the Old Fashioned Christmas in the Park held at Withlacoochee River Park in Dade City on Saturday, December 10, 2005. Volunteers worked the booth set up by the elections office. Visitors to the booth could register to vote and use the iVotronic Touchscreen voting machines. The event was organized by the Rotary Club of Dade City and Pasco County Parks and Recreation Department.

 


November 29, 2005 - December 2, 2005 -FSASE Winter Conference

Kurt Browning, Pasco County Supervisor of Elections and his staff attended the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections (FSASE) conference held at Sheraton Sand Key Resort in Pinellas County in early December. Conference attendees heard from the Division of Elections, the US Bureau of the Census, and individual product vendors on a variety of election related topics.

 

 


October 29, 2005 - Supervisor of Elections' staff walked to support the American Heart Association

The Supervisor of Elections office participated in the 2005 Nature Coast Heart Walk. The Heart Walk was held on October 29th at the Rotary Pavilion at The Concourse. The Elections office raised over $2,000 for the American Heart Association.

 

 

 


October 11, 2005 - Staff attends Certified Public Manager Program

Facilitator Shawn Baldwin, Director of the Certified Public Manager (CPM) Program, guided 32 students through the first level of the CPM course. The program is offered through Florida State University, who began their CPM program in 1979. Four members of the elections team attended the Level I training held at the Election Support Center in Dade City.

 

 


August 31, 2005 - Filming for On-line Pollworker Training

Staff members from SOE Software, Inc. turned the Pasco County Election Support Center into a film studio on Wednesday, August 31, 2005. The Tampa company shot footage for an on-line pollworker training session that the Pasco County Supervisor of Elections office will incorporate into its new training program during the 2006 election cycle.

 


August 15, 2005 - Wesley Chapel Office Open House

Kurt Browning, Supervisor of Elections, held a grand opening on August 15, 2005 for the newly opened satellite office that houses the elections' office and property appraiser's office. The new office is a joint effort by both Mr. Browning and Mr. Wells to serve the growing number of residents in South Central Pasco. Nearly a hundred people visited the Wesley Chapel office during the grand opening. The Greater Wesley Chapel Chamber of Commerce welcomed us to the neighborhood and sponsored the ribbon cutting ceremony.

 

 

 


August 1, 2005 - Wesley Chapel Office Open for Business

Kurt S. Browning, Pasco County Supervisor of Elections, in conjunction with Mike Wells, Pasco County Property Appraiser, has opened a satellite office. The office is located in the Village Market Shopping Plaza at the corner of Bruce B. Downs Blvd (County Road 581) and State Road 54 in Wesley Chapel.

 

 


July 15, 2005 - Wesley Chapel Office

Kurt S. Browning, Pasco County Supervisor of Elections, in conjunction with Mike Wells, Pasco County Property Appraiser, will be opening a satellite office later this summer. The office will be located in the Village Market Shopping Plaza at the corner of Bruce B. Downs Blvd (County Road 581) and State Road 54 in Wesley Chapel.

 

 


June 7, 2005- June 9, 2005 -FSASE Summer Conference

Pasco County hosted the 60th Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections (FSASE) conference held at Saddlebrook Resort in Wesley Chapel in June. Joined by notable guest speakers and facilitators, the elections office personnel came away from the four day event with a wealth of information and changes to implement.

 

 


April 13, 2005 -City of Port Richey Recount

The Pasco County Canvassing Board convened at the Election Support Center in Dade City on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 to conduct a machine recount of the councilperson race for the City of Port Richey. The recount was required by Florida Statutes since the two candidates vying for the position were separated by only three votes. The results remained the same after the recount was completed.

 


April 11, 2005 - Precinct 115 EVid Training

Pollworkers from Precinct 115 in Zephyrhills attended an Electronic Voter Identification (EViD) Workshop on Monday, April 11, 2005. Staff from VR Systems, our elections management software provider, along with SOE Chief Deputy Melba Hamilton led the workshop. The instruction and set-up afforded the elections office the opportunity for pollworkers and voters in Precinct 115 to participate in an EViD pilot program during the Zephyrhills Municipal Election on Tuesday, April 12, 2005.

Pasco County Fair - "Something to Crow About"

The fair theme “Something to Crow About”, gave opportunity for us to “crow about” the success of the 2004 election. A display board depicting 2004 election results, voter education, poll worker training and special events was surrounded by a farm theme complete with a cornfield, scarecrow and roosters.

Our efforts to showcase our accomplishments paid off with a first-place trophy for “Best Commercial Exhibit Depicting Fair Theme”, an honor we have won for the last three years, and something we’ll add to our list of “crow-worthy” accomplishments.

 


January 13, 2005 - City Clerks Meeting

City Clerks gear up for the upcoming municipal elections to be held April 12, 2005 by attending a training facilitated by the Supervisor of Elections office. Staff members joined Chief Deputy, Melba Hamilton at the David "Hap" Clark Professional Center in Land O' Lakes where she discussed candidate qualifying, absentee ballots, and the ballot tabulation process with the city clerks.
